At the end of October, we were excited to have culinary teams from 22 Bowen’s and Castle Hill take their place amongst the very best of Newport as part of the 35th annual Taste of Newport event to benefit Child & Family of Rhode Island. With nearly 30 local Newport restaurants and tastemakers participating, we were in good company as the community came out to support this very worthy cause which helps vulnerable children and families in need, all across Rhode Island. But naturally, the food was the star this night and our talented chefs made sure they left a positive impression.
22 Bowen’s decided to tempt participants with some tasty seasonal sweets and the created pumpkin macaroons for the event. Represented by Dining Room Supervisor Jacob Davis, Executive Chef Walter Slater and Chef Shayna Levine, 22 Bowen’s were excited to share their delights with the crowds and it turns out that pumpkin macaroons are a big hit! Castle Hill went a more savory route and presented event-goers with Crispy Shrimp Toast (Garlic bread emulsion, celery and tomato jam). Chef de Cuisine Andy Taur and Chef Cara Lin were there to help create and deliver the tasty samples and to make sure they were up to the standards of excellence that the Castle Hill kitchen is known for. More importantly though, both teams had fun and helped deliver smiles to all the excited foodies in search of great new tastes.
The night was a big success which means that all our efforts went to help children in our community. Plus we got to show off some of the Newport Restaurant Group excellence (we think that’s pretty cool too). We are proud to part of our Rhode Island communities and consider it an honor to be considered for events like this that bring out the best.
